Sinopec Jinling Petrochemical on Tuesday (19 May) said it has successfully installed a decompression tower at its refinery, unlocking a milestone in its plan to expand production of low sulphur marine fuel, according to Sinopec News Network, the company’s official news agency.

The decompression tower weighing 107 tonneshad to be installed in sections, it said.

The engineering team spent a lot of time planning the installation and finally decided that it would be best to be executed in two phases.

On Saturday (16 May) morning, a 630-ton crawler main crane and a 260-ton tailing crane arrived on site to support the operation.

After securing the foundation alignment with anchor bolts, both sections of the decompression tower were installed on the same day.
