Shell deploys LNG bunker vessel “New Frontier 2” in Americas

Global energy company Shell on Friday (14 July) said it has deployed a new LNG bunker vessel which has been named New Frontier 2.

“She is our third vessel to be deployed in the Americas and is part of our fleet of 12 bunker vessels, enabling Shell LNG’s availability across key bunkering locations worldwide,” Tahir Faruqui, Global Head of Downstream LNG, said in a social media post. 

“Built in the Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co., Ltd. and chartered from Pan Ocean Co., Ltd, the New Frontier 2 is capable of bunkering multiple ship types, both in port and offshore. She can also provide loading and gas-up/cool-down services to LNG carriers and LNG-fueled vessels.”

“Across the globe, we have safely completed more than 1,000 LNG bunker operations. With this latest addition, we are stepping up our support to shipping customers, empowering them to make immediate emission reduction through LNG.”

Tahir, in a separate post, also said that Shell has added two new LNG bunkering locations in Flushing and Antwerp, expanding its network to 19 locations across 12 countries.

He added the first operations in Flushing were completed with its customer Van Oord.
