Vietnam: Coast Guard detains HP-3839 for transporting 25,000 litres of illegal diesel oil

The Vietnam Coast Guard inspected iron-hulled oil tanker HP-3839 on Sunday (6 June) at 4am and found it contained 25,000 litres of diesel oil.

The Region 1 division of the Vietnam Coast Guard Command on Sunday (June 6) discovered the iron-hulled oil tanker HP-3839 behaving suspiciously in the bordering sea area between Hai Phong and Thai Binh at 4am (local time).

An inspection revealed the oil tanker to be transporting about 25,000 litres of diesel oil illegally, because the crew could not produce invoices and documents proving the lawful origin of the oil on board and it also failed to produce vehicle records and crew qualifications and certificates.

As such, the Vietnam Coast Guard has made a record, seized the goods on board and escorted the violating vessel to the Got Wharf area, Cat Hai district to continue investigations and handling in accordance with the law.
