The Vietnam Coast Guard on Saturday (4 June) arrested a fishing boat with the number TG 93798 TS at the southwest sea about 112 nautical miles southeast of Hon Khoai, Cà Mau province during a patrol at 3.25pm.
A patrol boat belonging to the Coast Guard Region 4 Command discovered the fishing boat displaying several suspicious signs and ordered the vessel to stop for administrative inspections.
An initial investigation found the ship, which had five crew members on board, to be transporting more than 70,000 litres of diesel oil with no documents proving its legal origin.
As such, the authorities made a record of administrative violations and escorted the vessel to the port of Squadron 401 in Phu Quoc city for further investigations and handling in accordance with the law.
