Shipping and logistics player CMA CGM on Sunday (5 June) said it has ordered 16 vessels, including 10 liquefied natural gas (LNG) dual fuel vessels and six methanol dual fuel vessels.

The orders consist of four 23,000 TEU capacity LNG dual fuel vessels, six 7,900 TEU capacity LNG dual fuel vessels and six 15,000 TEU capacity methanol vessels.

This is following its objective of achieving Net Zero Carbon by 2050 and in line with the firm’s strategy to diversify its energy mix.

“This new order brings the order book of CMA CGM Group to 69 vessels, accelerating our decarbonisation trajectory by investing massively in gas and methanol fuels,” said CMA CGM in a social media post.

“The two sectors will be complementary for decarbonising the shipping industry in the years to come.”
