Tumpuan Megah Development Sdn Bhd (TMD), the bunkering subsidiary of Malaysia-listed Straits Inter Logistics Berhad (Straits), has started its first bunkering operation at Lumut port, learned Manifold Times.
The company’s bunkering vessel Escolar (IMO 9066253) provided low sulphur marine gas oil (LS MGO) to the 19,127 dwt bulk carrier BMC Endora on Saturday (19 October) evening, shared Straits Group Managing Director Dato' Sri Ho Kam Choy.
TMD in early October started a joint venture “Pit-Stop Bunker Hub @ Lumut” with Lumut port operator Lumut Maritime Terminal Sdn Bhd for the exclusive right to operate, manage and provide bunker services located at or within Lumut Port limit including but not limited to jetties/ wharfs, anchorage area and the designated Pit-stop Bunker area.
The service allows offers shipowners and operators an opportunity to ‘jump the queue’ for bunkers-only calls when compared to lifting bunkers at other regional ports.
