Vietnam Coast Guard detains “HP 1702” over fuel oil of unknown origin

The Vietnam Coast Guard on Tuesday (10 December) said it has detained a domestic tanker HP 1702 due to the carriage of fuel oil of unknown origin on the same day at 4pm in the sea area bordering Hai Phong and Quang Ninh.
At the time of inspection, the captain is unable to present invoices and documents proving the legality of about 20,000 litres of fuel oil the vessel was carrying.
According to the declaration, the fuel oil was bought by the Captain from an unknown cargo ship in the sea area bordering Hai Phong and Quang Ninh.
The HP 1702 was subsequently escorted back to a nearby base of the Vietnam Coast Guard for further investigation and verification in accordance with the law.
